Qantas Expands Perth–Rome Seasonal Service in 2026

Qantas Airways Rome Perth

More Seats, More Europe

Qantas Airways has announced a major expansion of its popular Perth–Rome nonstop service, turning 2026 into a record-breaking year for long-haul operations from Perth. Operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the route will now extend from 3 May to 23 October, adding eight extra weeks of service.

Frequency will increase from three to four flights per week, translating into 40 additional flights and nearly 10,000 extra seats to Aeroporti di Roma Fiumicino.

Best Aiport in Europe

Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport has earned a stellar reputation in the aviation industry, having been recognized multiple times as the Best Airport in Europe by Airports Council International. It also proudly holds the prestigious 5-Star Airport rating from Skytrax, confirming its world-class facilities, passenger services, and seamless travel experience. For travelers flying on Qantas’ extended Perth–Rome route, this means arriving at one of the most efficient and highly acclaimed airports in Europe.

Why It Matters

The Perth–Rome route has become a favorite for both Australian travelers heading to Europe and European visitors discovering Australia. This extension responds to growing demand for:

  • Cultural tourism → Connecting Australians with Italian heritage and lifestyle.
  • Luxury travel → Nonstop comfort on the Dreamliner, reducing travel fatigue.
  • Business & investment links → Easier access between Australia and Southern Europe.

With nearly 300,000 seats on nonstop long-haul flights from Perth in 2026 (covering London, Paris, and Rome), the Western Australian capital is becoming a true international aviation hub.

Beyond Rome: Europe Within Reach

From Rome, travelers have seamless access to Italy’s most iconic destinations—Florence, Venice, the Amalfi Coast—as well as convenient connections to the rest of Europe.

This means Australians can enjoy easier itineraries that combine Southern Europe’s cultural and real estate hotspots with the convenience of a single international nonstop flight.

For investors and frequent travelers, the expansion reflects a broader trend: Australia is strengthening its aviation bridges with Europe, supporting tourism, trade, and real estate flows across continents.

The Bigger Picture for Perth

Qantas’ growth is not just about routes—it’s about redefining Perth as a gateway between Australia and Europe. With additional routes to Auckland and Johannesburg launching at the end of this year, Perth is positioned as one of the most dynamic long-haul hubs in the Southern Hemisphere.
